Just off Gracechurch Street near Leadenall Market you will find this Cask Marque accredited, traditional City pub, "simply lovely" and "not to be missed" are just some of the labels that The Swan Tavern can be given. Red Car's own Tony Berry has a nose which can turn an already successful pub into a very successful pub. The Swan Tavern is leased from Fullers and added to Red Car's growing list in 2006, as with their other City venue, The Bell on Cannon Street, The Swan Tavern is doing very well. The downstairs bar must be the narrowest in the City, barely wide enough for two people to pass, it has a stone floor and dark wood panelling. Upstairs is traditionaly furnished with an Edwardian louge style which is carpeted and confortable. You will find the majority of the clientele outside or enjoying the more, in comparison, spacious upstairs bar. The beer is kept to a very high standard in both bars as the cask marque proves. Fullers Pride is on offer and on our visit they had Butcombe from the Bristol Brewery of the same name and Fullers Chiswick. Lunchtimes and early evening is the busiest time for The Swan Tavern as City gents enjoy a pint before the commute home, perfect! |
