The Shakespeare Pub is situated complex and next to the YMCA centre at the junction of Fann Street and Goswell Road, near to barbican tube station.  The pub is part of the Barbican complex so is relatively modern, but don't expect plush surroundings. This is the most northerly pub within the City of London boundaries, which probably explains the clientel mix, mostly locals and few city workers. Greene King IPA and John Smiths CASK was on offer when I visited.
