of The General Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. This Cask
Marque accredited
pub offer excellent value, well kept ales along with Wetherspoon's food. There
are plenty of different seating areas to enjoy both a pint and something
to eat. Popular
with City workers, builders and being close to the Tower
of London and Tower Bride this is a popular venue for tourists too.
Just two minutes from The Liberty Bounds is All Hallows church, which was funded by the nuns of Barking Abbey in AD675. The present church constructed in the twelfth and fifteen centuries was one of the few to escape the Great Fire of 1666. From its tower, Samuel Pepys watched and recorded the progress of the flames. Pepys lived and worked in a Navy Office close by, there is a street named after him just to the north of the pub where a bust of him can be found. |
