The Cartoonist is tucked under the London International Press Center, I'm not sure what they get up to in the Center, but I would imagine some of them must visit The Cartoonist. When I visited the staff were friendly and the pint of Adnams was reasonable. But not much more to say, although there are pine floors and a downstairs bar used for functions or when busy. Framed photographs and cartoons make for an interesting walk around the pub, a photograph of Terry Waite hangs on the stairs to the function room, he was in the Cartoonist the night before he left for Beirut only to be taken hostage and disappear without trace for five years The building housing the Cartoonist has seen better days, all to quicky in the City can such a building be replaced, so get a long a grab a bit of history while you still can. |
