City Tavern, Lawrence Lane, City of London

Green King has performed a quick make-over of the City Tavern, closing for a couple of days at the end of May 2008. Gone is the carpet which provided the invisible divide between the bar and the lounge, replaced with easier to clean wood. The walls have received a lick of paint as has the outside, with bright and shiny Green King green window frames and doors. I can't see any difference in the seating arrangement, although on this visit I didn't do up or downstairs. Gone is the fruit machine on the ground floor, but I did spy at least one pool table downstairs. There was IPA and Old Specked Hen available behind the bar, and a pretty decent pint it was too.
